J.D. Power – Global Retail Practice

The Problem

JD Power provides a portfolio of services which support retail experience activities in various global markets. They envisioned a new service called “Power University” which would offer online training to automotive customers to enhance Customer Service and improve Sales. The training would be delivered to retail automotive Sales and Service Reps.

However, their automotive customers were not interested in a sales training delivered by a traditional Learning Management System (LMS). Their past experience had proven that LMS training was unable to produce measurable sustained increases in sales or service rep performance. They also wanted a Personalized Learning System (PLS) that could be tailored to the backgrounds and needs of each learner.

So, JD Power spent 8 months evaluating various learning systems (including some offered by their parent company McGraw-Hill), and they selected BrainX.

The BrainX Solution

BrainX’s initial engagement involved producing a custom PLS that JD Power could test internally for effectiveness. This included BrainX’s standard practice of doing a “deep dive” into a customer’s business goals, training methodology and existing content. JD Power’s test results were so positive that they ordered a pilot PLS customized for one of their global market automotive clients. The pilot also proved to be very successful.

This training model has been so successful that JD Power changed the name of its Power University to “The Daily Workout.”

Based on the pilot success, the client reordered, and since then, JD Power has successfully deployed BrainX’s PLS training to additional global market clients, with plans to release it domestically as well.

LaSalle Bank (acquired by Bank of America) – Traditional LMS vs. BrainX Results

The Problem

At LaSalle Bank, two product lines were lagging in sales. They decided to experiment by training Sales Advisors. One Advisor group received training via a traditional e-learning (LMS) program. As a comparison, another group trained using BrainX tutorial courses to develop their knowledge and skills.

Management reported the BrainX group achieved a 300% increase in sales within a 6-month period after training. However, the other group had no growth in sales for the same period. The Problem

The Federal Truth in Lending Act required that PACE Automotive Finance and Sales reps have a clear understanding of their responsibilities when discussing finance terms with customers. PACE needed a training partner to take over the development of an e-learning system to meet a rapidly approaching deadline and deliver assurances that learners would pass coursework with 100% success.

The BrainX Solution

PACE engaged BrainX to produce a prototype and then build a 10-course training program on federal compliance practices. BrainX delivered it all in less than 45 days. Curriculum was enhanced with embedded flash video and audio to simulate “What-to-do” and “not-to-do” scenarios. Additionally, BrainX helped PACE leverage their brand in the marketplace by designing custom login and home pages. Amgen, Inc. – New Product Launch Training

The Problem

A new drug launch sales campaign included a live, instructor-led training meeting that was scheduled to occur two months prior to the product’s rollout. Sales trainers determined that the agenda would not accommodate all the content that needed to be delivered. The audience included Regional Sales Managers, District Managers, Sales Representatives, and Specialists associated with the new drug launch. The training managers needed a way to distribute key marketing information as well as train field sales representatives without taking up any live meeting time.

The BrainX Solution

Amgen engaged BrainX to build Personalized Learning System (PLS) “pre-courses” that could be deployed online prior to the meeting. This enabled the Sales reps to get the highest value from the live training. The pre-courses were highly effective in delivering time and compliance sensitive information, with no sacrifice of rigor in the material. The entire project was initiated and deployed in only 1 month, well in advance of the live meeting.

The Problem

The Camp Negotiation methodology is widely recognized as the most effective in the world. It is used by thousands of organizations to effectively negotiate large deals as well as complex labor and government negotiations. Founder and CEO Jim Camp wanted to expand by building an online university. The problem was that traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS) weren't powerful enough to teach to the level of mastery required to effectively negotiate. Camp also wanted an online interface that would allow them to coach people anywhere in the world when they used the Camp system to conduct complex negotiations.
