Exit Exam

The BrainX Online Learning System was originally fitted with content created by the Orange County Department of Education in direct alignment with state standards for the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Today, the standards can be easily aligned to any state to meet the requirements of its math and English exit exams.

The system offers several courses in: academic vocabulary, English language arts, and mathematics. Before beginning any of the courses, students take a pre-assessment which generates a report, so they can see what they know and what they still need to study.

The pre-assessment can be used in two ways:

  1. As students study, they are notified when they master one of the standards that they missed in the pre-assessment.
  2. Teachers can see the standards that are missed most by students, so they can modify their lesson plans to cover those standards.

This gives students a global view of what they are missing and notifies them each time they overcome one of their gaps for motivation. By providing teachers with standard by standard data for their entire class, they can identify those standards that are least known without having to rely on students to ask for elaboration.

After the global pre-assessments, students take a pre-test for each of the courses. These pre-tests prescribe specific state standard course work that is tailored to each student’s learning needs.
